Holiday Photos...

Here are a couple holiday photos from the Holle Household.

Joshua and my Caramel Apple Pie that we made for Thanksgiving. It was delicious and the cutouts on top are turkeys, acorns, and leaves.

"Our Hope is Not the Vote"...

The above quote is from our pastor Rob. He said it during a sermon he made regarding marriage a couple weeks ago. I feel that after the election, no matter what the results, our hope should not be in the vote but rather in a higher power, who has a much bigger plan. Here is a link to the 37 minute sermon if anyone is interested.

Halloween...

Here are a few pictures from The Holles Halloween 2012. Since I cannot figure out how to add captions to pictures on my phone I will explain them here.
Picture 1: Each year a friend of the family creates a Haunted Garage and has a party to show it off. These are the cupcakes Joshua and I brought.
Picture 2: For work my coworkers came up with the brilliant idea to be human Tetris. We were going to life size but it just didn't work out so we scaled it down and here is my piece.
Picture 3 and on: Dave and his Halloween costume. My parents stopped by as well with some treats.

Stella Marie...

Yesterday we made the drive to Amery, WI to celebrate the precious Stella Marie Marks. It is hard to believe that it has been a year already. Heather and Derek threw a perfect first birthday party for their daughter. Here are some pictures from the day (sorry that some are blurry but I am still getting use to the camera on my phone) and yes Heather made the cake!

Food for thought...

A couple weeks ago Joshua and I were headed to Target and on our way we spotted a familiar sign Which Wich! We had no idea that they even existed in MN. We thought it was an Iowa thing. Turns out there are 4 in MN and 1 of them is in Savage as of Tuesday. Needless to say Joshua and I were there opening day.

Getting smarter...

Joshua and I launched into this century this week and got smartphones. We fully planned on sticking with regular phones when we walked into Verizon but somehow ended up walking out with iPhone 4's. We picked them up yesterday and are trying to sort through all the features! Hopefully, we can avoid becoming one of those people who are attached to their phones. After last night I can see how easy it can be.

September Staycation...

Josh and I took 3 days off this past week. We originally thought we might go somewhere for a short vacation but decided to stay home and get some things done around the house and go to NWC Homecoming.

When we moved to our house a little over a year ago one of the top items on my wish list was a fence. We can now check it off our list.

Our much anticipated fence

One of the main reasons we got the fence

He loves it
The second highlight of the week was NWC Homecoming. Despite all the changes it still feels like home when we go back once a year. This year, Josh's parents, my dad (my mom was out of town and definitely missed), and Katie, joined us. It was a gorgeous day and a victory for NWC.

Fishing...

Labor Day Weekend we went to the lake and ALL Josh could talk about leading up to the weekend was fishing. I decided that if I wanted to spend some quality with my husband that weekend I would join in. We were fishing from shore and I had just told Josh that I needed a new lure because I was catching nothing but weeds. Josh left to get me one when I finally got a bite. I was having some trouble getting it in and so I told Jim that I had a big fish. He laughed it off and so I was on my own. Josh walked up in time to see me bring in this guy. The biggest fish I have ever caught and no matter how Josh argues it, the biggest fish from the weekend.

I recently discovered Group 1 Crew. I can't seem to get enough of this song, so I thought I would share. Enjoy.

Fall...

I guess fall is coming early this year! This lady is not going to complain. Pumpkin white chocolate mochas are by far my favorite holiday drink and a Pumpkin Chai sounds amazing! Looks like Josh and I will need to make a little stop on the way to work on Friday.

Camping 2012...

After a 4 year hiatus (due to PT school, wedding, and moving), Josh and I were able to make it to our annual family camping trip. This year the Obeys and Hintzs came to MN vs. us going to MI. We found a campsite in Schroeder, MN (about 80 miles North of Duluth) called Lamb's Resort. Here is a recap of the week (Saturday-Thursday).

Saturday- We arrived at camp, set-up, and explored. I realized that I never took a picture of our campsite. We shared with my parents, and then Margie, Kevin, and Renee were at the site next to us and Barb and Gary had the site across from them. Prior to leaving Josh and I bought a new tent. Josh had a two person tent, which was fine but only fit our air bed so we decided to upgrade. We ended up getting a 6 person Coleman, complete with a hinged door, self rolling windows, and an LED light. Her is a picture of it in our front yard.
This is the back side

Sunday- We hiked along the Temperance River (a couple miles from our camp ground).

Monday- While Kevin and my dad went fishing the rest of us headed for another hike at Sugarloaf Cove.

Monday Night- Annual Date night: My parent's wedding anniversary is July 22nd, Kevin and Margie's is July 21st and ours is July 24th so we were invited to join this year (I usually babysat Renee). We headed to Grand Marais for dinner and a walk on the pier. We ate at The Angry Trout Cafe on Lake Superior.

Tuesday- All of us went shopping in Grand Marais, except Josh, he decided to go for another hike. Here are some pictures from his hike.

Wednesday- The group, minus the Holles, decided to go for a drive to the Boundary Waters, we decided to stay behind and spend some time just the 2 of us. We started the morning at the coffee house, then biked 6 miles to Tofte, visited the local museum, and then did some exploring at Cross River. When the group returned we braved the waves and cold of Lake Superior with only some minor injuries.

Stopped at the Temperance River

Thursday- We packed up our campsite (others were staying until Saturday) and then after lunch headed to Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls on the way home.

We had an amazing vacation and are resting/unpacking/spending time with Dave for our remaining days before heading back to work on Monday. Margie and Renee are headed to my parent's house for 2 weeks and we are excited to get to spend some more time with them! Thanks for hanging in with my marathon post.
